Pineapple & Pine

Have you heard of Pineapple and Pine??

It’s this great community created by Sarah of The Plush Pineapple and Kelsie of Crafting for Weeks. These two makers are giving a space for bringing makers together and featuring designers. They host collaborative CALs, blog hops and spotlight features and even have a community on Facebook (Pineapple and Pine Maker Community) for you to join in and get to know other makers just like you!

I love the spirit and purpose behind Pineapple and Pine and I am honored to be a part of it this month! Sarah and Kelsie are going to be sharing one of my designs for the Designer Spotlight today, May 8th, and I couldn’t be more thrilled that they liked my pattern enough to share it with their community! I also am just one of the designers that will be part of the spotlights this month. There are several other beautiful cotton designs that will be featured and you should definitely make sure you are following along in the Facebook group and on the Pineapple and Pine Instagram.

Now for the pattern and the details of how to get a copy for 70% off! Woohoo!

If you’ve been following me for awhile you know I LOVE to design with cotton so when Pineapple and Pine was looking for cotton patterns I just had to apply! I submitted my Flouncy Halter, which I felt was a great choice with the summer months quickly approaching us!

This design was inspired by a bit of need and a bit of having a specific style I wanted to accomplish. The need being a cool and easy top to wear all spring and summer long (and maybe even into fall because I live in Califronia and it’s ALWAYS HOT) and the style being a peplum. Peplums are such a great look that I totally love, especially on little girls! Half tank top, half skirt anyone? Sign me up.

The most important part of desiging this pattern was that I wanted the flared bottom half to still go all the way around the body and though it is technically open completely in the back it gives the appearance of a full shirt! It took some time but I finally got it figured out and the Flouncy Halter was born!

The hatler still ties at the neck and back like any traditional style crochet halter but with a flounce that goes all the way around to create a halter/peplum hybrid that is both practical for hotter months and a beautiful top.

Alternatively, you can also add length to the neck straps and put them through the stitches closes to the back ties and tie them closed all at the same spot. This will create a more tank top style look to the top instead!

The pattern is made with worsted weight cotton and a G hook. It comes in toddler and child sizes in 12-24 months, 2/3, 4/5, 6/7, 8/9 and 10. Both Flouncy Halters shown here were made with I Love this Cotton.
